General Job Description

Job Title: Project Engineer III

Reports to: Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

CIMTEC Engineered Products (CEP) provides its customers exceptional engineering solutions focused on robotics, vision, and control utilizing commercial products sourced by our distribution partners. Our service offerings include:

  • Turnkey projects         
  • Hourly field service and engineering
  • Training (private custom classes and vendor-certified classes)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering proposals for turnkey solutions utilizing standard templates, pricing worksheets and corporate pricing guidelines.
  • Demonstrate the technical expertise necessary to specify automation products to fulfill customer specifications and budgets. 
  • Perform project execution responsibilities including system concept and design, specification of bills of materials, programming of automation devices, and onsite commissioning.
  • Manage projects to ensure conformity to the approved CEP proposal, the schedule, project profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver training of the automation products sold by our distribution partners for both internal and external audiences. 
  • Conduct field service calls to troubleshoot, replace or modify existing automation systems or components.
  • Participate in joint sales calls or site visits with the outside sales staff to drive future CEP sales. 

Minor Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help develop younger engineers via mentorship and on-the-job training.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ensure all administrative documents are accurate and current, including project files, timesheets, and corporate expenditures.
  • Provide account intelligence to Sales when communicating with or visiting customers.
  • Some overnight travel is required to customer sites or training locations, including occasional stays for 3-4 nights. Most work is local or regional, but could be nationwide. 

Qualifications for the Job

Experience Qualifications:

5+ years of professional experience utilizing one or more of the industrial automation technologies previously referenced (Vision, Robotics, Controls)

Education Qualifications:

BS degree in an engineering specialty with a preference towards Electrical or Mechanical engineering

Technical Qualifications:

Familiarity with automation brands typically utilized in CEP solutions including:

        –  Robotics: Epson, Universal Robots, MiR, Kawasaki

        –  Machine Vision: Cognex, LMI, SICK 

        –  Controls: Emerson, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Horner  

•  Understanding of basic electrical design principles using software applications such as AutoCAD
•  Understanding of basic mechanical design principles using software application such as Fusion 360 

Other Qualifications:

•  A valid driver’s license.
•  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Position: 

Sales Engineer, Supporting State of Virginia

Summary:

The Sales Engineer is responsible for growing new business.  The Sales Engineer will engage existing customers as well as prospect for new customers (defined below) in the I-81 corridor of Virginia. Develop and initiate sales strategies for key accounts and create added value for the customer and CIMTEC. Identify automation technology needs with the customer and present solutions using the products and services CIMTEC can provide. 

 

Role Accountability and Experience

Proficient Level of Product Knowledge

  • Full Mastery of all Cognex, Sick, Universal Robots, Epson Robots, Emerson Automation and LMI products, sales demo, and first line customer technical support
  • Major vendor training in the first 180 days SICK, Cognex, Qualitrol Overview training Emerson, Pro-Face, and Robotics

 

Sales Process

  • Sales Engineers are trained on our sales process and will be required to use the companies CRM to manage their daily activities and track the opportunities generated.

Sales Plan

  • Sales Engineers are trained on our sales process and will be required to use the companies CRM to manage their daily activities and track the opportunities generated.
  • Develop list of 25 targeted development accounts in VA
  • Demonstrate in the first 90 Days that you are a significant contributor to the CIMTEC team by building relationships w customers and closing orders for vision and sensor products. 
  • Ensure achievement of agreed sales targets and margins with a structured follow-up and reporting process. Establish, build, and maintain long-term, strategic customer relationships to improve the Company’s opportunities for sales and profits, ensure customer satisfaction and act as the focal point for customer communications and solutions. Execute all duties with Honesty, Integrity and Professionalism. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business, and 2 years of experience in Automation sales, Engineering, or technical support.
  • OR associate degree, preferably in a technical field, and 5 years of experience in Sales, automation, or technical support. 
  • Or, Military background with technical degree or technical skills and a desire for technical sales.
  • Daily travel within the state required. Minimum overnight travel.
