Precision LED Lighting
Dark Field Lights provide illumination that is projected at a shallow angle to the imaging surface, 45 degrees or less. Typical applications include reflective flat surface defect or edge detection, where the majority of the light may reflect away from the camera on the flat, featureless surface but defects may scatter the light to the camera, creating feature appropriate contrast. Dark Field Lights can be dedicated ring lights, or any general bar or spot light oriented at low angles of incidence, depending on defect orientation. Very low angle dark field ring lights must be deployed at close working distances to be effective.
MicroBrite™ Diffuse Ring Light Series
DF198 Series
• Our MicroBrite™ DF198 Series provides diffuse illumination at a low angle to cast shadows used to identify surface defects, embossed text, etc. • This ring light is more diffuse and less directional than the DF196. • Can be used to produce a bright field effect when the outer diameter is smaller than the working distance.
MicroBrite™ Direct Dark Field Series

Our MicroBrite™ DF196 Series delivers direct illumination at a low angle to cast shadows used to identify surface defects, embossed text, etc. This dark field ring light is more directional and less diffuse than the DF198.
Small Low Angle Dark Field
DF241
The DF241 is characterized as a Small Low Angle Dark Field ring light. A scratch on a sheet of glass is a good example of a defect that can be detected with a low-angle dark field illuminator. *Engineered to provide comparable optical characteristics to our previous RL1360.
Large Low Angle Dark Field
DF242
The DF242 is characterized as a Large Low Angle Dark Field ring light. Precisely aimed LEDs provide a very low angle of incidence, radial illumination pattern. *Engineered to provide comparable optical characteristics to our previous RL1660.
Dual Function Ring Light
RL5064
Characterized as a Dual Function Ring Light, the RL5064 is capable of both bright and dark field illumination with independent control (depending on control option). A wide variety of wavelengths may be specified from UV to IR. The large inner diameter of the ring light can accommodate lenses up to 55mm in diameter. The light can also be ordered with an optional 3 point mounting barrel.

The RL3940 is characterized as a Folded Beam Dark Field ring light. Precisely aimed LEDs, along with an aluminum beam folder, provide a specific and repeatable light pattern on the imaging plane.
